Github allows you to transfer your repositories to your friends or colleagues.
Earlier I have forked a repo called ‘bootstrap’ and there I explained the term Forking and the procedure of forking.
By forking I got a copy of that repo and I become the owner of the copy of that repo.
You must be the owner of the repo which you are about to transfer to someone else.
Now here come the steps of transferring a repository.
First login to Github.com and open the repository which you like to Transfer.
Then select Settings from the action bar.
Then scroll down the page and find ‘Transfer Ownership’ and click on Transfer.
Then you will be asked to confirm the transfer.
Here provide the Repository name and the new owners Github user name to transfer the repository to him.
Then click on I understand, transfer this repo.
Now a transfer request is sent and a message will be displayed.
It may require approval from Github staff and a pending transfer request will be displayed until it has been approved by the Github staff.
